Are You a Driver or a Passenger?

Have you ever felt removed from a situation?  Present in body but not in mind?  Or maybe like you were just a passenger while your car ran on autopilot?

This is a normal process your brain uses to protect you from stressful situations. It reroutes information away from the thinking and processing part of our brain to the survival part of our brain.  The main priority in the survival part of our brain is simply surviving the current situation so you can multiply and carry on the species. When a saber tooth tiger is coming at you, you don’t have time to think – you just react.  This is the survival part of your brain doing its job the way it was designed to do. In a properly integrated brain, once the situation is over your brain goes back to functioning normally and you no longer feel like things are just happening around you.  Clear thinking comes back and you’re in the driver’s seat once again.

Sometimes though, the brain gets stuck and continues to protect you even in non stressful situations.  You may find that no matter how much you want to change your reaction to something, you just can’t.  The reaction happens before you can even think about it.  Phobias, anxiety and anger are all prime examples of this. They’re like habits you just can’t seem to break. Some people find that even after working through their emotional issues with a qualified therapist that there’s still something holding them back and not allowing them to fully move on with their lives.  Some piece of the puzzle is still missing.

Neuroscientists in Australia have found that piece. They have found that this is not just an emotional issue, but also a physiological one.  There are pathways in the brain that can get short circuited and need to be reset.  It’s a little like the electrical system in your house.  When a breaker blows and we don’t know how to reset it, we simply compensate for it by using another circuit that works.  Unfortunately, that overloads our other circuits, which leaves them more likely to ‘blow’. Eventually we need to reset the blown breaker(s) in order to have full use of our ‘home’.

The trick to resetting the circuits is through releasing the physiological stress in the brain that’s causing it to reroute information.  Kinesiologists do this using a system of muscle testing and acupressure points.  This system allows us to talk to the brain on a deep physiological level and let it know that it’s ok to remove those blocks and open up those pathways. This is done in a non stressful and safe way that leaves the recipient feeling calm and in control of their lives again.

A few sessions with a Kinesiologist that specializes in Brain Integration (also known as LEAP) can bring about profound results and leave you feeling more in control of your life.  Life is a whole new experience when YOU are in the driver’s seat!
